Game calls of all sizes and wood species are lumped into a big ol' pile below. Someday I may organize 'em but for now, there aren't that many so it won't take that long to browse the whole list.
I'm concentrating on wood that I have access to....mostly buckeye, redwood, maple, walnut,........and anything else that might come along. For my way of keeping track of individual pieces, after the first "species" letter, I've added a "C" to denote "call" and then a number. BC1 would be Buckeye Call 1........easy...just the way I like it. : )

Hey Guys, I just posted (9/8/12) some turkey pot call blanks down toward the bottom....starting with BC10. They're "sandwiched" together in two layers. A thin buckeye piece and a thicker black walnut lower piece. Didn't know what to call 'em considering they are not really "segmented" but layered like a sandwich......so I'm calling them Rockbs Turkey Sandwich Pot Call Blanks...
Made a few using redwood burl also. I have more thinwood for the "show" side than I have 1" thick plain burl so this will be a good use for them. I'm planning on making some out of manzanita too......the usual cast of charactersof the wood types in my area. Going to give casting a try on some of these pieces too....got lots of wood with holes that need a home too. First try is BC10..... Buckeye/walnut with alumilite filler. Give 'em a look-see if you have a minute. Thanks much. Rocky

RWC5, $5.50. Redwood figured block for turkey pot call. This measures 1 x 5 x 7 1/4 long. Hey guys, I'm sorta testing the waters on this one, indicated by the low price. This is fairly hard old growth root wood...not burl but interesting grain and it should be fairly durable. When someone buys this one and reports back to me pros and cons.....I'd appreciate the info.

BC9, $15.00 Buckeye burl block has two 7/8" slabs in it.....maybe a little less after subtracting kerf. Make a couple turkey pot call blanks or pen blanks or knife scales or...... Nice block with very few problems. Measures, 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 x 8" long. Note if you rip this one, the two pieces will be about 7/8" thick each. Circle is 4 3/8 diameter.

Measures 1 1/4 thick and 4" plus a hair wide. Filler has a few bubbles....still got a lot to learn about Alumilite but I think it's going to be a fun experience. I think a little CA prior to putting on the final finish should take care of 'em but this is sort of a trial run. I'm expecting the price of blanks like this one will go up when I get the process down. That Alumilite is expensive. : ( BTW, from some research I've done about finishing, it says to wet sand because the alumilite is heat sensitive....maybe do a little research of your own before buying.
