Here are a few maple burl bookmatched knife scales.  This is  Pacific Bigleaf Maple (Acer Macrophyllum), dry and ready to go.  They make really pretty box tops too.  Pics are taken dry and wet.....only one side though to show the bookmatch.  Sanded the pic side, other side is bandsaw cut.
