Mar. 19, 2013........added some manzanita burl slabs and some small knife scale size slabs
Welcome to Rockbs quick and dirty web page. Maybe someday I'll come up with some really cute graphics and animated stuff that takes a long time to load.......hmmm..will give that some thought. Banner pic is of Mt. Lassen, live volcano located in the Northern part of California. I see it nearly every day from the seat in my "office"........which looks a whole lot like a Caterpillar D-7G tractor with rippers.
To my wood buddies from Ebay, IAP, and Blade Forums, my user name is rockb. When I'm listing wood on the above sites, I add the apostrophe "s" to show the possessive form, therefore, coming up with rockbs. I'm hoping this little website will be a little easier, cheaper, and more user friendly than the above websites although they are good and I still like them. I do consider nearly all of my wood buyers to be friends and enjoy working with them. It always amazes me the creativity of a few of you.
To my woody friends that I haven't met yet, my name is Rocky Bemis. I live way up on the north end of Californi-ay.....by north, I'm not talkin' San Francisco but Redding...about 150 miles south of Oregon. I've been a logger all my life, having done most of what can be done in the woods including cutting, skidding, loading, and hauling logs. I've had opportunity to log the biggest trees on the planet in Humboldt County, California....pretty much the center of the giant redwoods country. I guess that's where my love of redwood burl really did start. I work mainly with redwood, manzanita, buckeye and maple burl woods, all native to my area...hence the name Rockbs Western Woods....go figure. ; )
It takes a lot of work and time to keep a website up to date with fresh wood, deleting sold wood, etc. I'm just a one man operation so if there's a screw up, it's mine. : ( I try to mark "sold" wood as it happens but if there are two buyers for the same piece, the first one according to email time, will get it.
I can and will take Paypal but would much rather have a check or money order. For you guys who pay by check/mo, I'll try and throw in a little extra something in your box for the trouble. Paypal is an easy way to pay but it costs a few pennies that do add up. If you see wood you'd like to buy, just fill out the little"contact" box below. I'll get back to you usually within the same day.
One more thing, if you receive wood and it's not as described or you're unhappy with it, let me know, we'll either work it out or I'll give you a refund. I haven't had that happen yet, but.......
I'm sure there's more info to add but for now, take a look at some wood, see if there's something you just gotta have. : ) Thanks much, Rocky
BTW guys, in case you haven't found Wood Barter yet, you really should surf on over and check 'em out. They're here: http://woodbarter.com/index.php
Buy, sell, chat, learn.....a great bunch of guys. They're not paying me for this note, in fact I should be paying them ....I'm just passing on a good site plus I use 'em too.....
Got a question or two......maybe some wood you'd like to see or special dimensions? Let me know, I promise not to "spam" you with...er...spam......
